Saffron comes from the flower of Crocus sativus.

Saffron for depression

January 18, 2017 by Christina Santini in Biochemistry Balancing, Depression

By 2020, depression is expected to be the world’s second-leading cause of disability according to Center for Disease Control.

New research has shown that the yellow spice saffron is likely THE MOST effective remedy against depression (if not caused by heavy metal toxicity though - then you need to rid your brain of heavy metals first!).

Saffron works for serotonin imbalance related depression.

Saffron's antidepressant effects are due to its serotonergic, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, neuro-endocrine and neuroprotective effects.

How much do you need?

Swedish saffron buns are super delicious!

30mg x 2 daily is the magic number found to combat depression. Saffron seems to be much more efficient at this than other conventional natural remedies such as St. John's Wort and typical medications such as Prozac. And it is pretty delicious added to baked goods and rice.
